Console Options - Network

The network options control how ServerAssist caches data for overview reports and how network scanning timeouts are determined.

Caching

When generating overviews for multiple systems, the reports may require information from a large number of systems, and this information may take some time to collect. To speed up the response times of overview reports, the console can cache data, and use the cached data to generate the report, without needing to connect to each system directly.

Cached data is automatically refreshed periodically, ensuring that the information presented in the reports is up to date. The cache can be seeded automatically when the console starts, ensuring that reports are always generated in a timely fashion.

Network Analysis

When scanning large networks, it can be difficult to ensure that adequate time is allowed for individual systems to respond, but still keep the maximum duration of the scanning operation to a sensible maximum. The console can vary the total time allowed for some network operations based on the size of the network.
