Note that not all monitoring sections are applicable to all system types. Key IndicatorsThe key indicators report provides an "at a glance" indication of system health. Any change to the levels, as determined by the configured thresholds, is a potential issue that merits investigation. ServerAssist can monitor the key indicators, and respond when any of the status of any metric (except the alert count) changes.Performance ItemsThe collected performance data can be displayed on the performance chart report, but this requires visual analysis to see important changes in the values of collected items. ServerAssist can monitor the collected performance data, and respond when the value for a performance item crosses a configured threshold.Event LogsEntries in the event logs are very often important indicators of system problems. ServerAssist can respond whenever an event is logged to any of the event logs. Filters can be used to ensure that only relevant events are processed.ServicesServerAssist checks key services, to ensure that they are running, and responds if they fail. Once per minute, all monitored services are individually checked, and if one of them is found to be not running, it can be restarted automatically.AvailabilityServerAssist can connect to a system check that it is connectable from the management server.Network DevicesServerAssist can 'ping' devices on the network to ensure that both the device and the network are operational.SNMP TrapsServerAssist can listen for traps sent from SNMP devices. Note that the Windows SNMP Trap service must be running in order to listen for traps.Security UpdatesIntegrating with the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer, ServerAssist will continually monitor the security profile of your Windows computers, automatically checking for relevant updates at set intervals. |
