Settings - Credentials

The credentials settings define default credentials to be used by the management server when connecting to agentlessly-monitored systems.

Windows Computers

By default, the management server runs under the Local System account, and this account will have no access to any other system on the network. A set of credentials, typically those with domain administration privileges, can be used to allow the management server to monitor other Windows systems over the network.

Alternatively, the service can be configured to run directly under a specified account. Note that the ServerAssist does not provide the ability to make the necessary changes to the Windows service control database - those changes would need to be made using the tools supplied with the operating system.

Linux / Unix Computers

Linux and Unix systems are monitored via SNMP v1, and an SNMP community string that has read access to the OID tree will be required.

SNMP Devices

SNMP devices are monitored via SNMP v1, and an SNMP community string that has read access to the OID tree will be required.
