Policies - Management

A single policy, or a collection of policies can represent an enterprise's "best practice" for monitoring and performance trending, and the appropriate policies may take some time to develop.

ServerAssist allows individual policies and the complete policy definition set to be exported and imported, providing an easy way to share policies with colleagues, and to protect the policies themselves by allowing the underlying data to be backed up using standard file backup approaches.

When ServerAssist is installed, the standard policies are included with the console. The standard policy definitions are also included in a file, StandardPolicies.spd, included in the resource kit. This file can be imported into the management console, should it be necessary to restore the default policies. Alternatively, right-click on the Policies node and select All Tasks → Restore from the context menu.
