Policies - Usage

A policy can be applied to an individual system, or to a group of systems, using the Apply Policy wizard. When applying a policy, ServerAssist will examine the configuration of the system to which the policy is being applied, and will not add configuration settings that do not make sense in the context of each individual system.

For example, if a policy defined three performance counters to be monitored, and only two of those performance counters were available on a particular system, that system would only be configured to monitor those two performance counters, and the third performance counter would be 'ignored'. When applying the same policy to a system with all three counters available, that system would be configured to monitor all three counters.

A policy can be configured with an applicability rule. An applicability rule is an expression that uses variables and functions to allow the Apply Policy wizard to determine if a policy is suitable for an individual system.
